Hello! I’m Cristian Schmitt Nieto, an IT professional originally from Spain and now based in Germany. With over a decade of experience, I currently serve as a Lead Consultant at Devoteam. My passion is to create innovative solutions that combine traditional on-premise infrastructures with modern cloud technologies, with a primary focus on Hybrid Cloud (using Azure Local) and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
Career Overview
Early Beginnings
I started my IT journey with hands-on roles such as providing client support, installing printers, and resolving everyday technical issues. These experiences laid a strong foundation and sparked my interest in network infrastructures and server management.
Data Center & Infrastructure Management
I managed a small data center where I was responsible for:
- Firewalls: Safeguarding network security and ensuring smooth data flow.
- S2D Clusters: Overseeing storage solutions for data availability and reliability.
- Windows Servers:
- File Servers (DFS): Handling distributed file systems.
- Active Directory: Managing user and resource administration.
- DHCP/DNS: Maintaining essential network services.
- Citrix: Overseeing virtual desktops and applications.
Azure Journey and Current Role
Five years ago, I specialized in Microsoft Azure, a move that has been both challenging and rewarding. In my current role at Devoteam, I focus on:
- Hybrid Cloud Solutions: Integrating on-premise (Azure Local) systems with cloud services to build agile and secure IT environments.
- Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD): Designing and optimizing virtual desktop infrastructures to enhance efficiency and scalability.
I also guide clients through their digital transformation journeys using modern tools like Azure DevOps, Terraform, and Bicep, along with frameworks such as the Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and the Well Architected Framework (WAF).
